What is Restylane?
Restylane is a clear, gel formulation of hyaluronic acid. The human body produces its own version of hyaluronic acid, and this synthetic version is meant to mimic the body’s natural kind. How does it work?
Just like other fillers, Restylane is injected into the area that needs more volume. This works by placing volume beneath the skin where volume has been previously lost. With more volume beneath the skin, skin looks smoother and more youthful*. Unlike Botox, however, Restylane does not paralyze the muscles in the face, which allows continued unrestricted movement of the face. Smile all day long with Restylane!
How long does it take to see results?
The great thing about Restylane is that you can see immediate results directly after your filler appointment. Appointments are usually short and don’t usually result in downtime, so you can begin enjoying a fuller, fresher look immediately following your appointment with Abington Aesthetic & Laser Medical Center. However, bruising and swelling are a usual side effect of any injection site which resolves quickly, so be prepared just in case!
How long does it last?
Patients who have Restylane injected can see improvements for up to 18 months in the nasolabial folds, up to 12 months in the cheeks, and up to 6 months in the lips*. Length can vary by patient, but it’s important to note that Restylane is not permanent.
